Our practical actions to reduce the environmental impact of events

We incorporate sustainable development principles into the organisation of our events, such as working with local caterers and short supply chains, and using eco-designed, reusable exhibition stands. Below are some examples of the practical measures implemented at our events to reduce their environmental impact. This list is not exhaustive:

  • Providing separate waste collection throughout the exhibition area
  • Recovering and repurposing waste through partners specialising in reuse
  • Recycling specific types of waste, such as carpets and cigarette butts, through specialist partners
  • Reducing the use of carpeting in aisles
  • Reducing or eliminating printed materials, such as catalogues and pocket maps, in favour of digital formats
  • Reducing the number of magazines and publications available on site in favour of a digital newsstand
  • Reducing printed signage in favour of digital screen signage
  • Using badge holders made from recycled plastic
  • Assigning specific services to supported employment organisations for people with disabilities, such as attaching badge holders to lanyards and inserting documents
  • Ensuring that spaces are accessible to people with reduced mobility
  • Encouraging the use of public transport across our various communication channels, including websites, social media, newsletters and badges

Recommendations for exhibitors

  • Do not print flyers or leaflets.
  • Replace printed materials with digital alternatives.
  • Replace promotional gifts with services.
  • Limit the number of promotional gifts distributed and choose useful items made from recycled materials or materials that can be recycled.

Audiovisual equipment:

  • Opt for rented sound and lighting equipment.
  • Use dark-coloured visuals and HD-format videos with a maximum resolution of 1080x1920 pixels.

Healthcare Week Luxembourg 2025 Certified Green Business Event 🌱

Healthcare Week Luxembourg 2025 has been awarded the Green Business Event label, an official recognition of our commitment to more responsible and sustainable organization. Launched in 2023 by the Directorate General for Tourism of the Ministry of Economy of Luxembourg, the Green Business Events project encourages and promotes eco-responsible initiatives in the professional events sector in Luxembourg.
The objective is twofold: to promote more environmentally friendly practices and to develop, in collaboration with industry stakeholders, concrete solutions for sustainable events. Specifically, this means that HWL 2025 is committed to:
  • Reducing its ecological footprint (resource management, waste limitation, soft mobility);
  • Prioritizing partners and service providers who share the same values;
  • Raising awareness among exhibitors, visitors, and speakers about the importance of responsible behavior.
Obtaining this label also sends a strong signal: a major European healthcare event can be innovative and provide solutions, while remaining mindful of its impact on the planet.
